What is a Small Group? A small group is 3 to 12 people who come together on a regular basis as a caring community seeking spiritual transformation and authentic relationships as they serve others.
What Happens in a Small Group? Every group is a little different, but generally a group will meet at the host’s home, spend time catching up about their week, share prayer requests and pray together, delve into a Bible or sermon study or other book or DVD that the group has chosen, and talk about how these things apply to their lives. Groups may take on service projects together and support one another in individual service. Many groups attend events together (such as cookouts or ballgames) and members often form friendships meeting with one another outside of the scheduled “group” time.
Why Join a Small Group? God never intended for us to live our lives or our Christian faith alone. He’s given us the gift of other people with whom we can laugh, grow and learn how to surrender to Him more fully. You’ll find friendship, transformation, accountability and acceptance at Open Door Church in a small group.

Maybe Just Sample a Small Group Experience. Starting this fall, a small group will be meeting for sermon-based discussions every Sunday at 9 a.m. at Open Door Church, San Mateo. It will be an excellent and convenient opportunity to see what a small group is all about without having to make a long term commitment with this particular group. Sampling this small group for a sermon series will help make your decision to join a full-time small group a little easier.
