Confident Kids/Confident Parents

Menlo Park Campus, Room A25

2011-12 dates to be announced

Our eight week series, "Growing Through Change," is for single or married parents and their children. This program for children in grades 1-5 builds confidence and self-esteem and teaches healthy living skills practical for the entire family.

Using the theme “Nothing stays the same forever,” children learn to deal with change by grieving the losses that occur when things change and by identifying and managing the six states of grief. It is uniquely designed with parallel programs for both adults and school-aged children.

This program will also provide support, networking, and an opportunity to meet with other parents sharing and brainstorming together. Adults whose children have “aged out” of the Confident Kids program or do not currently have custody are encouraged to attend as well. This 8-week unit will teach the children:

  • How to deal with the significant changes in their lives by grieving the losses that occur when things change.
  • To identify and manage the six stages of grief: Denial, Anger, Bargaining, Depression, Acceptance and Hope.
  • Change is a natural part of God’s design for our world
  • All human beings pass through the same six stages when experiencing major change in their lives.
  • God is a constant friend and guide through all change.
