What happens when you pack 30 students and six leaders into five vans and head out for seven days of adventure? Our Middle School mission trip!
This year, we're headed to Los Angeles to serve with Center for Student Ministries. The week will include a myriad of service opportunities, including working with the homeless, children, soup kitchens, and much more. it will be a week you won't want to miss!
What will we be doing on this trip?
We will be doing different service projects each day. CSM has relationships with several organizations where we will be allowed to serve. We will be working with kids in after school programs, working with homeless people, and with the Salvation Army, to name a few examples.
Tentative Schedule:
Sunday drive down to L.A.
Monday-Thursday work projects around L.A.
Friday fun day around L.A.
Saturday drive back to Menlo Park
Where will we be staying?
We will be staying at the CSM headquarters in southeast Los Angeles. This is where we will be sleeping, eating most of our meals, and de-briefing each evening as a team.
How much does this trip cost?
Cost is $550.00. This includes all meals, expenses, and transportation. You might want to bring some spending money for snacks on the drive down and back to Menlo Park.
Should I fundraise for this trip?
YES! In fact, we encourage everyone to fundraise at least part of their trip! This is a great opportunity to allow friends and family to partner with your mission trip experience.
Why the application process?
• The application process gives us the opportunity to learn a little more about the students interested in going on the trip and helps us gauge their desires and needs as we continue to plan the trip.
• It also can help students start to mentally prepare for a longer serving experience. Four days of hands-on serving can be tiring and difficult, and it is important for students to be ready for this experience.
• Lastly, it helps students practice a process that they will need to go through many times as they get into high school and beyond.
