Celebrating five years of changed lives in Ethiopia and Menlo Park!

Changing lives in Ethiopia......Changing hearts in Menlo Park

MPPC has completed a five-year commitment to partnering with Ethiopian Christian organizations to address physical and spiritual need. Ethiopian Christians deal with problems of poverty, illiteracy, illness, and spiritual darkness. Our goal was not only to proclaim the Kingdom of God through tangible help in Ethiopia, it was also to give our congregation a heart for the world and God's priorities in it. Roughly 300 church members have visited our partners, returning with a personal connection to believers there and to the needy they are reaching.

Ethiopia Initiative Teams

Hope (Education/Youth) - MPPC has funded the construction of buildings for elementary and higher education, the improvement of educational practices, and the establishment of new churches in un-reached areas by indigenous pastors.

Justice (Justice/Economic Issues) - We are working with organizations that prevent youth homelessness, rehabilitate former commercial sex workers, help women in poverty, and train leaders in changing the low status of women in Ethiopia.

Compassion (AIDS/Healthcare) - We are involved with Christian groups that care for the sick, prevent HIV/AIDS infection through biblical teaching, and support orphans living with guardians.  Evangelical Churches Fellowship of Ethiopia provides basic care and services for orphans of AIDS victims and their guardians in Nazret, Wonji-Gefersa and Wonji-Showa villages.  They also help displaced Muslim HIV sufferers with income generation skills and improved nutrition.  Meserete Kristos Church supplies education and micro loans to people suffering from AIDS, teaching church members about prevention, home care and testing.  SIM supports AIDS patients in the Bole region of Addis Ababa with aftercare, including food, shelter and ARV medication compliance training and support groups.
